About the Thai strain
The Thai psilocybe cubensis originates from the tropical islands and lowland regions of Thailand, where it has been used in local traditions for centuries — locals call it “hed keequai” (laughing mushroom). This particular strain was collected by renowned ethnomycologist John W. Allen during his fieldwork across the Thai islands in the early 1990s.
Thai mushrooms produce sturdy fruiting bodies with round, brown-red caps (30–60 mm) that flatten as they mature and lighten in colour. Stems are thick and fibrous (50–130 mm), often longer than average due to the strain’s tropical genetics. Thai is one of the fastest colonisers in the GetMagic® range — aggressive mycelium growth and rapid pinning make it a satisfying strain to watch develop.
The experience is energetic, social, and visually stimulating: bright colour enhancement, waves of euphoria, and a clear, uplifting headspace. Why does the Thai grow so fast?
Thai cubensis evolved in warm, humid tropical conditions — it’s genetically wired for aggressive colonisation and rapid pinning. In a GetMagic® kit at 24 °C, you’ll often see pins appear sooner than with most other strains. This fast development also makes Thai one of the most contamination-resistant strains in the range.
What yield can I expect from this 1200 ml kit?
A 1200 ml standard kit typically produces 200–400 g of fresh mushrooms across multiple flushes. Thai tends to produce tall, dense clusters that fruit quickly and regenerate well between flushes. Looking for a bigger harvest? The Thai is also available as a 2100 ml XL kit.
How does the Thai compare to Mexican?
Both are fast growers and excellent for beginners. Mexican is milder and more relaxed — warm euphoria with gentle visuals. Thai is more energetic and visually stimulating with a stronger body effect. If you want a social, active experience, go with Thai. If you prefer gentle and mellow, choose Mexican.
